Snowdon, known in Welsh as ‘Yr Wyddfa’, is located in North Wales within the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. It is the highest peak in Wales, standing at 1,085 meters above sea level. A mountain railway operates on Snowdon from Llanberis to the summit between April and October each year. Running alongside the railway is the Llanberis Path, a hiking trail approximately 7 kilometers long, considered the most popular route to reach the summit of Snowdon.

1471007900_Hint Comments The Llanberis Path may rise over 900 meters from base to summit, but don’t let that number intimidate you. From the starting point up to the Halfway House, the trail is pleasantly gentle and easy to follow, making it ideal even for casual hikers. The only notably steep section comes after Clogwyn Station, where the path climbs a rugged ridge—but by then, you’re well on your way and the views only get better. Reaching the summit of Snowdon is a reward in itself. From the top, you’re treated to sweeping, soul-stirring views across northern Wales—rolling mountains in every direction, sparkling lakes catching the sunlight, and a sense of tranquility that feels almost otherworldly. It’s like stepping into a fairytale landscape, high above the everyday world.

The mountain train between Llanberis Station and Summit Station only runs from April to late October each year. Please visit the Official Website of the train for details when planning your trip.
Every winter to spring (approximately from December to late March of the following year), most parts of the mountain will still be covered with snow. During this time, the hike is not recommended for those without proper equipment or experience in winter mountaineering.
When you are in highlands or mountains, it will be cooler in places without sunlight, so you must bring enough warm clothes with you when you go up the mountain.
The ridge section after Clogwyn Station is quite steep. If there is snow and ice on the ground, you must pay attention to safety.
Do not walk on train tracks. Violators may be prosecuted and fined.
