The steam train operates only from early April to late October each year, with just two departures daily from Fort William to Mallaig. It passes over the Glenfinnan Viaduct at approximately 10:45 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. If you want to catch the train crossing the viaduct, it is recommended to arrive at the Glenfinnan Viaduct Viewpoint 15 to 20 minutes early.
For those driving to the Glenfinnan Viaduct during weekends or peak tourist seasons, the parking lot may become full. It is recommended to allow extra time to find a parking spot.
