Tai Lam Chung Reservoir is the largest reservoir in the northwest New Territories. There are more than a dozen hilly islands and four dams in the reservoir, so is called the Hong Kong version of “Thousand Island Lake”. In 2019, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department built a viewing deck near No. M181 of MacLehose Trail, and renamed it “Reservoir Islands Viewpoint”, which is convenient for people to go to see the whole picture of Tai Lam Chung Reservoir.

1471007900_Hint Comments In the past, if you want to see the beautiful scenery of “Thousand Islands Lake”, you had to climb up to a hill. Now you can easily walk along the MacLehorse Trail to the newly built Reservoir Islands Viewpoint, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Tai Lam Chung Reservoir.  In addition, the deck in Reservoir Islands Viewpoint is built with a lot of local natural materials. The design of the deck is also based on simplicity, which is the same as the newly built deck in Bui Tsim Kok of Sai Kung. The architectural concept of the deck is commendable.
